Ticket products for Hämeenlinna regional public transport can be bought in a range of locations.

Buying a single ticket on a bus

You can buy single tickets on a bus using cash or contactless payment. Only one fare can be paid using contactless payment, the charge is always the price of an adult ticket and the transfer window is always 90 minutes regardless of the number of zones. A passenger paying in cash should try to have exact change as the driver only has a limited amount of cash to make change.

A single ticket (€1.70- €6.80 €) cannot, as a rule, be bought with a 50-euro or larger bill.

Buying a mobile ticket

A mobile ticket can be used to travel on Hämeenlinna regional public transport using the same zones as for a Waltti ticket bought in advance. A mobile ticket is bought using the free Waltti mobile ticket app, which you can load onto your phone from an app store (Google Play or Apple iStore).

The driver checks Waltti tickets and other fare machines on the bus will read the QR code on the ticket. You can use a mobile ticket to travel to Lahti and Riihimäki, just like you can with money loaded on your Waltti card.

Adding value to Waltti ja Matkahuolto cards is not possible on a bus.

The Hämeenlinna Waltti service and sales points

You can get Waltti cards and load value on them at service points and limited customer service points. At these locations it is also possible to change customer data on the cards.

At sales points you can only load products that have already been on the card before. The duration of a pass cannot be changed at these locations.

Tickets entitling the cardholder to a discount (eg tickets for school journeys) can only be bought at specified locations.

The service and sales points charge a service fee (commission). The size of the fee varies from location to location and the sales points may decide how large the fee is.

At Hämeenlinna City Service Point you can buy tickets and set up a travel card . Customer service there will also handle damaged and lost cards, take care of complaints and advise customers on how to use public transportation.

You have to prove your identity when buying a personal travel card. You get your card on the spot and can begin using it right away.

Hämeenlinna City Service Point accepts payment using the most common debit and credit cards, the ePassi app (for those traveling to work) and cash.

Limited customer service points

At limited customer service points you can get a new Waltti card and load money onto an existing one. At these locations you can also change customer data, such as default zones or customer group. Following are the limited customer service points:

• R-kioski Lammi, Mommilantie 3 (Lahti Waltti cards available as well!)

R-kiosks charge the following service fees:

Loading points

At a loading point you can add value to the card or add the same kind of bus pass.

Note. It is not possible to add the Kela-subsidized ticket for secondary school students at the R-kiosks, as strong authentication is not available.

Waltti online store

At the Waltti online store Waltti-verkkopalvelusta, you can order and buy a personal travel card for yourself and a child under 17 who lives with you in the same household. Log into the service with your Waltti credentials or register if you are a new Waltti user. To order a Waltti card, you have to go through strong authentication in the Suomi.fi service. Begin the ordering process by choosing the authority (Hämeenlinnan seutu) when ordering the Hämeenlinna travel card.

A travel card can be encoded with a pass and a value ticket at the same time or, if you prefer, only one ticket product. The card and tickets on it will be sent to you by post to the address you provide within 1 to 3 days of the order. The card can then be used straight away. In the online store loading value on the card is free of charge.

Once you’ve bought a card you can load more value on online in the Waltti store Waltti-kaupassa, at Kastelli and at the limited customer service points in selected R-kiosks (two R-kiosks).The prices of tickets are the same at all sales points but the service charges vary. A Waltti card costs 5 euros.
